Beets & Brine: A Backyard Bar Take Over & Art Market
We are taking over the entire back yard at Pirogue's Whiskey Bayou with our new series Beets & Brine. Beets & Brine is an evening of creativity and community that focuses on supporting small local businesses.
Each month we will feature a local Bartender(s) that will be tasked with creating a one of a kind cocktail menu featuring locally sourced ingredients from the Once Around The Kitchen pantry and locally made spirits from our partner Porchjam Distillery. We will also have a DJ each week to get your body moving!
This month we are looking forward to having Turning Tables Alumni Zari Nunez (Espiritu/The Dew Drop Inn) and Ava Gonzalez (Sylvain) join us behind the bar and DJ Carmine P. Filthy providing the beets for the evening!
Chef Melissa Araujo will be in the kitchen with her new project Oscar and we will have Oyster Happy Hour until 7pm!

Beets & Brine is an evening of creativity and community that focuses on supporting small local businesses. Abortion became illegal in Louisiana and much of the South following the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade, creating a healthcare crisis among medical providers and delaying essential care for those seeking services. In this void of legal access to abortion, we are reminded of the importance of community care.
As we near the anniversary of the Dobbs decision, Creative Community League, Once Around the Kitchen, and New Orleans artists and creators invite you to an affirmation of bodily autonomy and self-determination expressed in community gathering, education and the arts.
Join us on Saturday, June 24 from 1-5 pm at Bud Rip's for an arts market, food and cocktails. Proceeds will benefit education and outreach about abortion access for our New Orleans community.
